Why Some entrepreneurs Struggle to make Heart-Centered Sales
There are a lot of “rules” when it comes to running an online business. Unlike more traditional forms of business, such as brick-and-mortar stores and local businesses, online businesses can reach a much larger audience, and online marketing and sales means taking a different approach to building a sustainable base of clients.
.
While certain rules apply to nearly all online businesses, some of these rules can seem stifling to heart-centered entrepreneurs, causing problems with their overall mindset and making it difficult for them to reach their business goals.
.
For example, some experts teach that you should post a certain number of social media posts each day to build your audience. Building an audience is a must, but, should you follow that advice if it feels like too much?
.
Others teach that you should email your list a certain number of times each week to gain their trust. Nurturing your email list is also a must, but, what if it makes you feel like you’re bothering them or don’t know what to send in each of those emails?
.
Others who prefer shortcuts teach “black hat” marketing tactics, which are always unethical, concentrate on deceiving customers, and are sometimes illegal. Basically, black hat tactics are the complete opposite of what heart-centered entrepreneurs practice but the lessons are out there.
.
For some entrepreneurs, these rules can seem counterproductive, and they can lead to a poorer relationship with their clients. Some of these rules might go against your values and finding out how to best operate in this environment comes with a host of challenges.
.
As a heart-centered entrepreneur, you value authenticity, which can come into conflict with some of the rules of online business. In particular, the sales-based approach many online businesses use can feel inauthentic, and a lot of entrepreneurs often believe they’ll have to sacrifice some of their deeply held values to break through certain financial barriers. While you’ll need to ensure you’re charging a fair and aligned rate for your services, taking on a salesy tone might make you feel as if you aren’t being true to yourself or building the type of relationship you want with your clients.
.
Heart-centered entrepreneurs also value integrity above all else. Although you can maintain your integrity while practicing good online business practices, doing so may make you feel as if you aren’t being fully aligned with the heart-centered approaches you’re focusing on.
.
Heart-centered entrepreneurs often view all of their relationships similarly to their in-person relationships, where asking for payment or selling products or services can feel somewhat uncomfortable. Integrity is an invaluable trait to have and fostering it can serve you well, both professionally and personally. Recognizing how these types of relationships differ, however, can present certain challenges and create unnecessary barriers.
.
All of this results in a scenario where you might feel as if you aren’t able to build the thriving business you’re aiming for while maintaining your commitment to your clients. Over time, this can be stressful: Some heart-centered entrepreneurs worry that they’re doing something wrong even when promoting their businesses in a fair and even beneficial way. Even worse, some entrepreneurs feed a fear that they’ll never be successful without sacrificing their values (this ultimately leads to your sabotage patterns and cycles).
.
Fortunately, there is good news: It doesn’t have to be this way!
.
There are a number of lies heart-centered entrepreneurs tell themselves or hear from others that can make it difficult to thrive, and these lies can be insidious. It’s often tough to even recognize these lies, much less to be able to break away from them. By addressing the sneaky little lies heart-centered entrepreneurs often believe and by developing real answers, you’ll be able to maintain the type of business practices you want while pushing past barriers and improving upon the values you hold most dear.
